  • Equipment Insurance:
    Cloverleaf SOA will pay up to $2,400 to repair a members' sulky and $200 per wheel that is damaged during a race or a pre-race warm-up.

  • Fire & Disaster Insurance:
    Cloverleaf SOA contracts with Rosecroft Raceway and Ocean Downs to provide insurance coverage up to $15,000 for member's racehorses and $7,500 for member's equipment destroyed by fire.  More than $200,000 in benefits has been paid.

  • Liability Insurance:
    Since 1981, liability coverage of $1 million has been provided in the event that a member's horse accidentally injures a person or damages property.

  • Stronger Representation:
    There is power in numbers.  By becoming a member of Cloverleaf SOA, you not only help yourself but help fellow horsemen's efforts with Legislators as well and the Maryland Racing Commission, etc. to be more responsive to our needs and interests.  Cloverleaf SOA has been instrumental in numerous legislative actions to improve harness racing, including state funding to increase purses and obtaining on of the lowest tax takeouts in the country. 
     
  • Maryland Standardbred Horseman's Assistant Fund, Inc.:
    Established October 1, 2001 when legislation was passed that separated the one combined fund coordinated by the thoroughbreds, into two separate entities.  It exists to financially assist harness horsepeople that are actively racing or working at Maryland harness tracks that are truly in need of assistance and is committed to helping those involved in the Maryland harness racing community.  There is a governing Board which consists of owners, trainers and racetrack officials, that review the confidential requests, including proof of income and expenses and determines any and all assistance on a case-by-case basis, imposes a limited dollar amount to be paid for a variety of assistance and may require other commitments from the person requesting assistance.  It is supported by fines paid at Maryland harness racetracks and is overseen by the Maryland Racing Commission.
     
  • Free Legal Representation:
    Any Cloverleaf SOA member who is cited by the Judges for a violation can have Cloverleaf SOA's attorney accompany him/her to the initial hearing in the Judge's Office.  If, after the initial hearing the member feels the need for additional legal counsel, the member can obtain their own attorney or negotiate a fee with Cloverleaf SOA's to continue representation.  THE ADDED FEES WILL BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MEMBER.
