Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners' Association is a non-profit organization, formed in 1960.  Its membership consist of owners, trainers, drivers, and grooms of harness horses participating in Maryland, as well as other interested parties involved in the Standardbred racing industry.

Yokozuna Bo Goes to Class



Recently, Maryland based trainer Betsy Brown went to Allenwood Elementary School in Temple Hills, MD.  Allenwood is located just several miles away from Rosecroft Raceway, where Betsy Brown trains her stable. 

 Every year Betsy attends local schools and introduces the students to standardbred racing.  This year at Allenwood, Betsy brought along Yokozuna Bo, who is a 5 year old pacer owned by Ralph Hayward.  

This year's students were children in grades 3-5.  While visiting the students Betsy puts on a class of her own demonstrating the difference between a pacer and a trotter, what basic equipment is used, and how they are raced.  Along with the demonstration the students get to see a horse up close and personal, many for the first time.  

Betsy along with helper Dan Herbst gave the students "A Standardbred Star" coloring book donated so graciously by the USTA.
